Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of gait training on the walking ability and balance ability of the stroke patients using anticipatory posture control
Method: 14 subjects were randomly assigned to the study group and 13 subjects to the control group. The experimental period was 6 weeks, 3-5 times a week, 30 minutes per session. Treadmill gait training with anticipatory posture control and treadmill walking exercise were performed in the experimental group. G-walk was used for walking ability evaluation. Biorescue RM Ingenierie was used to assess balance ability.
Results: Both the experimental group and the control group showed significant improvement in both walking ability and balance ability after intervention. The walking ability and the balance ability between the experimental group and the control group were significantly increased except for the center of pressure evaluation.
Conclusions: The results of this study showed that the preoperative posture - control gait training using anticipatory posture control improved the walking ability and balance ability of stroke patients more than general gait training.
